Soccer team wins 2-0 vs. Kingsley

Grayling High School’s varsity girls soccer team defeated the Kingsley Stags by a final score of 2-0 on Friday night during a nonconference game played at Viking Stadium.
After nearly 31 scoreless minutes, Grayling got on the board with a goal by Molly Leslie. Neither squad scored in the final 9:05 of the first half, and the Vikings had a 1-0 advantage at halftime.
Both teams had chances in the second half, but the defenses held. In the final three minutes – at the 2:37 mark – Grayling got a goal from Ashley Haring, extending its lead to two goals.
The Vikings won by a final score of 2-0.
“The defense did a great job today. Nice job overlapping zones, communicating,” Coach Cyndi Powers said. “They’ve come a long way.”
The Vikings will host the Boyne City Ramblers at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 15. On Tuesday, May 16, Grayling will play at Ogemaw Heights.
