Todd Wielinski

 
Todd D. Wielinski, of Grayling, age 52, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Celebration of Life will be held 12:30 pm Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Pastor Steve Wood  officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery with United States Army Honors. Visitation 11:00 am Thursday, March 2, 2023 until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Todd David Wielinski was born in Toledo Ohio on January 28th, 1971.  He passed away on February 13th, 2023.    
Todd was born to David Wielinski and Yvette (Bialecki) Wielinski, grew up alongside his younger brother, Mark in Bedford Michigan, and attended Bedford High School in Temperance Michigan.  Todd excelled in academics, was on the baseball, track, football, and wrestling teams, and began shooting in 1980 at the Bedford rifle club.  As a senior, Todd received the distinguished expert award for small bore rifles.
After graduating from high school in 1989, Todd was appointed to the United States Military Academy, West Point, in West Point New York, where he was a member of the trap and skeet team.  Todd received his bachelor’s degree in environmental science, and upon graduation from West Point in 1993, Todd served in the US Army for over 5 years as a Field Artillery Officer. He was stationed at Schweinfurt, Germany, and Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.  Following his discharge from the service in 1998, Todd received his master’s degree from the University of Phoenix at the Indianapolis, Indiana campus.  He was a district manager for waste management until 2006, and worked as a manager for Rumpke Waste and Recycling in Ohio from 2007-2013.  While working, Todd also dedicated his time as an assistant scoutmaster and parent volunteer for Science Olympiad, where he judged a few events.  Todd started his own company True Saber, as a carbon fiber dealer for knife makers, and then branched out and started making his own knives.  In 2019, he accepted the position as Operations Manager for Bark River Knives in Escanaba Michigan.  In August of 2022, Todd moved to Grayling and accepted a position as a Project Manager for Clean Harbors Environmental.  Todd is survived by his wife Catherine Mix, his son Gunnar, age 23, and daughter Ella, age 19, both from a previous 26- year marriage, brother Mark and his 3 nieces Kendra, Kallie and Kelsey, his aunt and uncle Linda and Dave Carver, and cousins Koryn, Daniel and Evan.
