Sharon Kay Rice, 66, of Grayling, made the ultimate journey to be with the Lord on February 15, 2017.
She was born on August 5, 1950, in Sanford, Michigan, to Walter and Eleanor (Chinavere) Roe.
Sharon married Daniel Rice on May 6, 1978, at Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church.
She was the operator of the world's smallest swinging bridge for six years. She also worked as a cashier at Glen’s Market for several years. Sharon volunteered as a 4-H instructor, Girl Scout Leader and cookie mom. She helped various years with the AuSable River Canoe Marathon and cheered her family on at many races. She was a devoted basketball and softball mom as well, always yelling encouragement and clanging a cowbell from the sidelines.
Sharon loved Yellowstone National Park and visited when she could, most recently in 2013. She completed multiple hikes during the trip and made some great memories.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel, of 38 years; her daughters, Nickie (James) Owens of Frederic and Tanya Rice of Grayling; her grandchildren, Daisi, Daniel, Ben, & Andy; and she was recently made greater by the birth of her great-granddaughter, Isobel.
She is also survived by her parents, Walter and Eleanor Roe; sisters, Dawn Dandy and Roslyn Roe as well as nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be sent to www.sorensonlockwood.com
