Thomas Campeau

Thomas Francis Campeau, age 84, of Frederic, Michigan, died on Friday, January 12, 2018, while at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan.
He was born on December 19, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan, to Leo and Josephine (Duby) Campeau.  
He served in the United States Army Quartermaster Corps from 1954 to 1957 and spent two years in Panama with a helicopter unit.  He often shared fond memories of his time served.
He had a love for all things military, history, genealogy and antiques.  In 2017 he was awarded the Meritorious Service Award by the Frederic Township Fire Department for 17 years as the keeper of the Fire Danger sign which he proudly kept in his yard.
On January 12, 1957, he married the love of his life, Elisa Capote, in Detroit.  Together they raised five daughters.  Thomas took pride in his family and enjoyed visits with all his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters:  Renee (Jeff) Stampfly of Munising, Sheree Campeau of Essexville, Cheryl (Bob) Perron of Deerfield, Denise (Jamie McClurg) Campeau of Leonard, Rochelle (Kirt Kitchen) Campeau of Grayling; ten grandchildren:  Sarah (Nick) Papple of Ypsilanti, Jennifer (Paul Morse) Schmidt of Cheboygan, Ryan (Chelsa) McCauslin of Manistee, Meghan McCauslin of Savannah, Georgia; Thomas (Lucinda Pueblo) Barnett of Kalamazoo, Kayla (Tim Buchanan) Barnett of Gainsville, Florida;Alyssa (Matt Black) of West Minster, Colo.; Ian Stampfly of Munising; Keira Stampfly of Munising; Leonardo (Fabia) Caumo, of Rio DeJaneiro, Brazil; 15 great-grandchildren:  Parker, Lily, Alex, Bryce, Colby, Trevion, Isaac, Elizabeth, Andrea, Kimberly, LeAnn, Kaylee, Diana, Alice and Laura; brother-in-law, Baltasar (Marie Louise) Capote of Plymouth; nephew, Gregory Capote, of Dearborn; niece, Heather (Mark) Powell of Trenton; great-nieces:  Rachel Powell, Mikayla Capote, Savannah Capote; great-nephews: Ethan Powell, Adam Capote; dearest extended family, Bob (Darlene) Willim of Livonia, Raymond (Rochelle) Willim of Manistee, Don Willim of Dearborn Heights, Marcia Royer of Grayling.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Glenn; his wife, Elisa; his parents, sister and in laws.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held with military honors in the spring.
Memorials may be made out to the family or the Frederic Township Fire Department.
