Francis Stephen “Grumpy” Kammer, 86, of Frederic, passed away on October 15, 2017.
He was born on January 1, 1931, in Whiting, Indiana, to Francis and Amelia Kammer.
Francis married Bunny Kimball on August 19, 1988, at Camp Grayling.
He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer III, after 42 years of Civil Service for the U.S. Army and Army Reserves.
Francis was a member of the American Legion and VFW, Eagles, and Moose.
He is survived by his wife, Bunny, of 29 years; children, Margaret Kelly, Stephanie (Randy) Wagner, Frank (Lisa) Kammer, and Edward (Sue) Kammer. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; step-sons, Scott Fulgenti, Barry and Rich Mertes; sisters, Patricia, Eileen, and Mary Lou.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerald Kammer; and daughters, Veronica and Victoria.
Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Frederic on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at 12:00 noon. Memorial Service will be held at Grayling Eagles on October 21, 2017, at 1:00 p.m.
Bunny wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Crawford Continuing Care Center for the excellent care that was given to Francis during his stay there.
