Grayling runner wins girls cross country race
Grayling High School’s varsity cross country team competed in the Roscommon Invitational on Wednesday, and in the girls’ competition, the Vikings took two of the top three spots, including Brianna Martin’s first place finish.
The boys’ race featured runners from Grayling, Roscommon, Ogemaw Heights, and Whittemore-Prescott. The girls’ race featured Grayling, Roscommon, and Ogemaw Heights.
The Grayling girls had only four runners, so they did not have an official team score, but as individuals, Martin placed first with a time of 22:04. Sarah Rakoczy placed third with a time of 22:46. Katelyn Moore took 11th (25:23) and Madison Hall took 28th (33:33).
In the boys’ competition, the Vikings placed second behind Ogemaw Heights. The top individual performance for Grayling was an 8th place finish by Christian Artress (18:39). Caden Arredondo took 10th (19:34) and Bruce Coulter finished 13th (20:42). Kendall Tomczak placed 14th with a time of 20:42. Trey Moffit was 20th (22:00) and Russell Mansfield was 28th (24:45).
The meet featured a winding course through the woods surrounding Roscommon High School.
