COA offers DHHS assistance program - DHHS assistance appointments are available at the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center. Diane Howland, Eligibility Specialist from Crawford County Department of Health and Human Services, will be at the Senior Center on Wednesday, June 21, from 1-4 p.m. Howland will be available to meet with individuals to explain DHHS assistance programs, answer questions regarding eligibility requirements, case specific questions, and also take applications for assistance. Half hour appointments are available by calling (989) 348-7123. The Senior Center is located at 308 Lawndale Street in Grayling.
Food safety class to be held at Senior Center - The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, in collaboration with Michigan State University Cooperative Extension, are offering a free “Food Safety 101” event to older adults and food service volunteers. The class will be held at the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center on Thursday, June 22, at 6 p.m. For more information and to register for this class call the Senior Center at (989) 348-7123. Artisan Village to host free concert - The AuSable Artisan Village and Dharma Records will present a two-for-one concert on June 21 from 7-9 p.m. The event will feature Brian Ashton, country and rock, and Steve Sander, jazz, blues, and swing. The AuSable Artisan Village is located at 219 Michigan Avenue. The concert is open to the public and there is no charge. Donations are appreciated. Red Tent group to meet on Tuesday - The Red Tent Christian Women’s Group meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, at 2136 Viking Way, Apt. #36, Grayling. For questions, call 348-9543 or 348-8466.
Relay team seeks T-shirts for fundraiser - The Family Against Cancer Relay For Life team is asking for nearly new T-shirts that people do not need anymore. The group is going to have a T-shirt fundraiser, all kinds and sizes. It will be held outside the Hallmark shop. No date has been set yet.
