GRA to offer kayak, C-2 courses for boys, girls - Grayling Recreation Authority is offering a five-week (five classes) Beginner Kayak Course and a C-2 Competitive Paddle course for young people starting on Tuesday, June 13. Boats, paddles, and a paddle club shirt will be provided. The beginner course is for boys and girls ages 7-15. Class will be held 4-5 p.m. on Tuesdays. Basketball camp to be held at GHS - Grayling High School will host the Travis Bader Offensive Skills Camp from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 15. The camp is open to boys and girls currently in grades 6th-11th. To sign up, registration forms are available at the offices of Grayling High School, Grayling Middle School, and Grayling Elementary School.
Photography group to meet at GMS - The Grayling Photographic Society will have its June meeting on Monday, June 12, at 7 p.m. at Grayling Middle School in Room 100. The meeting will include a photo competition of its members with the theme “Rusty Things.” The public is welcome.
Smart911 event to be held at Senior Center - The Crawford County Commission on Aging is offering a time to sign up for the Smart911 Program on Wednesday, June 14, from 1-4 p.m. Smart911 is a free, new service available in the area to help you when you call 9-1-1. Once you’ve signed up, first responders will be aware of important information you have provided that will help them address your emergency. For more information call (989) 348-7123. Church offers day of free food - The second Mt. Hope food truck of 2017 will take place on Saturday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Hope Church property at 905 N. I-75 Business Loop. A hot dog and potato chip lunch, along with all food distributed, will be free of charge to any Crawford County resident with photo identification.
COA’s Lovells Satellite Meal to be held - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Lovells Satellite Meal on Friday, June 16, at noon at the Lovells Township Hall. The lunch includes breaded skinless chicken breast, baked sweet potato, mixed vegetables, and applesauce. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. Munson Home Health will provide blood pressure and sugar checks and Bingo will be played following the meal. Call (989) 348-7123 for a reservation. The Lovells Township Hall is located at 8405 Twin Bridge Road. 
Diabetes workshop to start June 12 - Michigan State University Extension and the Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency will be providing a six-week PATH Workshop on Diabetes. Diabetes PATH is a self-management workshop aimed at empowering people to take an active role in managing diabetes. Adults of all ages interested in diabetes may attend. The workshop is being held on Mondays from 1-4 p.m. each week starting June 12 at the Michigan State University Extension Office, 501 Norway St, Suite #2 in Grayling. Senior Center to host free concert - The community is invited to attend a free live concert featuring David Dickerson on Thursday, June 15, at 5:45 p.m. at the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center. Dickerson has recorded seven CDs over the last three decades and was inducted into the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame. Enjoy a lemon baked fish dinner before the concert at 5 p.m. Dinner cost is a suggested $3 donation for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. American Legion Auxiliary to meet - The American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the American Legion on Tuesday, June 13.
Fundraiser to benefit Grayling band - The Grayling Viking Band will conduct a car wash, bake sale, can/bottle drive, and hot dog sale on Saturday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Family Fare in Grayling. The fundraiser event will also feature an additional car wash at Diane’s Car Wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Money raised will benefit the Grayling Viking Band.
Free divorce clinic offered - The 46th Judicial Circuit Bar Association, Legal Services of Northern Michigan, and Community Mediation Services will conduct a free divorce clinic at the Crawford County Courthouse at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 15. Legal Services staff attorneys will provide classroom instruction and volunteer attorneys will be available for private consultations. All forms will be supplied free to participants.
