Devereaux facility celebrates National Library Lovers Month

Love Your Library event on Thursday features slide show, refreshments, silent auction
February is “National Library Lovers Month,” and the Crawford County Devereaux Memorial Library in Grayling celebrated with a Love Your Library event on Thursday, February 16.
Thursday’s Love Your Library event featured a slide show, refreshments, and a silent auction.
Connie Meyer, Library Director, said the silent auction had some unique donations, including a few sealed comic books and some “household items.”
“We had quite a bit,” Meyer said. “We had some really cool comics.”
The Devereaux Memorial Library is currently preparing for its summer reading program and a variety of other upcoming events and offerings as the end of winter approaches.
Meyer said the library is working with 4-H and MSU Extension on an embryology display (hatching chicks from eggs) starting this week. The library plans to put eggs in the incubators in early March, she said.
Devereaux Memorial Library will host a book signing for children’s book author and illustrator Sherry Graziano from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on March 9.
In April, Meyer said the library will probably have a small trout opener event during the daytime during which people can check out the special fishing section of the library and “sit and relax and relive the good old days.”
The library is currently offering an after school nutrition program and “radiant child yoga.” Meyer said the child yoga sessions feature music, props, and a variety of yoga poses.
The theme for the library’s 2023 summer reading program is “all together now.” The program is slated to begin in late June.
