Festival of Trees now underway - The GPA Festival of Trees is running now through Saturday, November 24. Drawing will be held on Sunday, November 25. Hours for the event are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving day. Come out and see all the baskets and trees and try your luck at winning one.
Help decorate for Christmas season - Get into the spirit of Christmas by helping to make the Commission on Aging & Senior Center look festive.  Everyone is invited to help with the Hanging of the Greens on Friday, November 30, starting at 9:30 a.m. After decorating enjoy a Salisbury steak lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost of lunch is a suggested $3.50 donation for those 60 and over and $5.50 for those under 60. #GivingTuesday to help local facilities - Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Join the Crawford AuSable Daycare & Preschool, the AuSable Valley Animal Shelter, and the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center during the worldwide #GivingTuesday movement and help redefine the giving spirit. Giving Tuesday Northeast Michigan Community Foundation is November 27. Those who are interested in joining the #GivingTuesday initiative can visit the Northeast Michigan Community Foundation’s website at on November 27 from 12 a.m. midnight to 11:59 p.m. If you do not have internet access you can drop off your donation on November 27 during their office hours and your gift will still count towards #GivingTuesday.
Cornhole to be played at Senior Center - Come in from the cold and compete in your favorite summertime activity. Cornhole will continue to be played inside at the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center and everyone is invited to come and play. All skill levels are welcome. This activity is scheduled once a month after the Birthday Dinner. This month, Cornhole is being held Tuesday, November 27, at 5:45 p.m. This is a free activity. From 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. there will be a pork roast dinner. Those 60 years of age and over dinner is a suggested donation of $3.50. Those under 60 the cost is $5.50. Chair Yoga event to be held - This month Chair Yoga is November 29 at 6 p.m. at the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center. Chair Yoga aims to give you the experience of classical yoga, even if you have mobility issues or find regular yoga challenging.  It will help improve flexibility, strength, balance, and focus. Join instructor Nicole Wethington and enjoy the many benefits of yoga without sitting or lying on the floor. This class is free and open to the public. Prior to the class, enjoy a chicken cordon bleu dinner from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Over 60 is a suggested donation of $3.50 and under 60 the cost is $5.50. Garden Club to conduct holiday luncheon - The Kirtland Garden Club, a local group, will conduct a luncheon on Monday, December 17, at 12 p.m. at Blakes on the Lake, Prudenville, with holiday songs by Roscommon first graders. Members and guests RSVP to Nancy at (989) 422-6017.
