Senior Center to host Thanksgiving Dinner - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center’s annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 8, from 4-6 p.m. The Senior Center will be serving roasted turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, mixed vegetables, ambrosia salad, and pumpkin pie. The cost of the dinner is $5.50 for those under 60 and a suggested donation of $3.50 for those 60 years of age or older. The dinner is open to the public. No reservations are required. Coffee hour for veterans to be held - The Crawford County Veteran’s Service Office will be hosting a coffee hour on the second Thursday of each month. The next meeting will take place at American Legion Post #106 on Thursday, November 8, from 9-10 a.m. Coffee, tea, and doughnuts will be provided free of charge. This is an event for veterans to meet and talk with each other. It will be a social setting with no formal speeches or agenda. All veterans are welcome. COA offers Zumba class - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center is now offering a second Zumba class called Zumba Stepping It Up. This class is a higher-intensity dance fitness class that combines muscle conditioning and cardiovascular exercise while moving to the rhythm of the beat. Zumba Stepping It Up will be offered on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. starting November 6 with Certified Zumba Instructor and Fitness & Wellness Coordinator Kaitlyn Grieb. If you are interested in a low-intensity Zumba class, join Zumba Gold on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. with Certified Zumba Instructor, Judy Morford. Zumba Gold is a low-intensity dance fitness class that focuses on range of motion, coordination, and balance while moving to a wide    variety of rhythms. Little League to conduct meeting - Grayling Little League will conduct a meeting at Charlie’s Country Corner at 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 1. The program is for boys baseball and girls softball ages 4 to 14. Please attend the meeting if you would like to be involved in the program. 
Garden Club to meet in Houghton Lake - The Kirtland Garden Club, a local group, will meet on November 19 at 1:30 p.m. at the Houghton Lake Public Library. Terry Bertrand from Barker Creek Nursery of Williamsburg will speak about plants we can have in our gardens that are low maintenance such as the decorative grasses, annuals and perennials that need no deadheading, and popular shrubs that come in smaller sizes that require less trimming. Aerobic Drumming program offered - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center will now be offering two free Aerobic Drumming classes beginning November 5. Golden Beats will be offered on Mondays at 10 a.m. This is a low-intensity cardio workout combining simple dance and exercise. Power Beats will be offered on Mondays at 5 p.m. This is a higher-intensity cardio workout combining rhythmic drumming and high-energy cardiovascular conditioning. Everyone is invited to join Kaitlyn Grieb, Certified Drums Alive Instructor and Fitness & Wellness Coordinator at the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center, to discover the “whole brain – whole body” of drumming to a healthier you. Baby to Toddler Closet seeking winter items - The Crawford County Baby to Toddler Closet is looking for donations of nearly new coats sizes 12  and 18 months, 2T, 3T and sizes 4-5 years. Frederic Satellite Meal to be held - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Frederic Satellite Meal on Friday, November 9, at 12 p.m. at the Frederic Township Hall.  The lunch includes beef pot roast, red skin potatoes, mixed vegetables, and a kiwi. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3.50 for those 60 and over and a $5.50 cost for those under 60. Munson Home Health will provide blood pressure and sugar checks and Bingo will be played following the meal. Call (989) 348-7123 for a reservation. Red Cross Blood Drive to be held - A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held at St. Mary’s Family Center, located at 707 Spruce Street in Grayling, on Wednesday, November 7, from 12 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. For more information or an appointment, visit (sponsor code: GraylingAL) or call 1-800-733-2767.
