Lovells Satellite Meal to be held - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Lovells Satellite Meal on Friday, September 21, at 12 p.m. at the Lovells Township Hall. The lunch includes breaded cod, red skin potatoes, Prince Charles veggie blend, and a fresh apple. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. GRA to offer youth cheer clinic - Grayling Recreation Authority is offering a K-5th grade cheer clinic on September 25 and 26 at Grayling Elementary from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Following the clinic participants will cheer at a JV football game on September 27 at halftime. Breakfast event topic is adult vaccines - The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center will host a free Munson breakfast presentation on Tuesday, September 18, at 9 a.m. Featuring guest speaker Nancy Goodyear, Manager of Occupational Medicine from Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital, the topic will be “Vaccines for Adults: Are You Fully Protected?” To learn more about vaccines that are recommended for adults and to learn more about the vaccines that are right for you join COA for this free breakfast presentation. Breakfast includes an omelette station, hash browns, muffins, mixed fruit, juice, and coffee. The breakfast and presentation will be held at the Senior Center, 308 Lawndale Street. McDonald’s to host RoboVikes fundraiser - GHS RoboVikes 10 percent sales at Grayling McDonald’s will kick off on Thursday, September 13, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. All sales during the event will support this season’s Destination Deep Space 2019. The 10 percent sales supporting GHS RoboVikes will continue every Tuesday in October and November, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Series at library offers help for caregivers - “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” is an educational series designed to help family caregivers reduce stress, improve self-confidence, communicate feelings better, balance their lives, increase their ability to make tough decisions, and locate helpful resources. Classes consist of six sessions held once a week. Two experienced class leaders conduct the series. Classes will be held at the Crawford County Library from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sessions are held every Friday and begin on October 19. League of Women Voters to meet - The League of Women Voters Crawford County Unit will meet on Tuesday, September 18, at 7 p.m. in the Nature Center (next to the American Legion). The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Artisan Village to host free concert - Dharma Records USA and Artisan Village will present Chester’s Habit, featuring a wide variety of music from country to rock, on Wednesday, September 19, from 7-9 p.m. The Artisan Village is located at 219 Michigan Avenue. La Leche League to meet - La Leche League will hold its next meeting in Grayling on Tuesday, September 18, at 2 p.m. in the Milltown Room at Grayling Munson Hospital. The group is open to women interested in breastfeeding, including pregnant and new mothers.
