Fundraiser offers light batons for Marathon - As a fundraiser event, Project Graduation 2018 will be selling special glow sticks –16-inch multi-color multi-display mode LED foam light batons – to help “light up the river banks” during the AuSable River Canoe Marathon this weekend. The booth for the sale will be located at the North Country Corner parking lot area on Saturday, July 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The batons will be sold for $5 apiece.
Wellington Farm to host Tractor Show - Plowing through town on the week of August 11, 12, and 13 is Wellington Farm’s 8th annual Tractor Show. The Tractor Show runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets for adults are $5, and kids 12 and under are free. The show is currently looking for more vendors, as well as more tractors. Vendors and tractor hosts are permitted to camp at the park for free. Limited facilities are available; vendors are encouraged to bring their own campers. Baby to Toddler Closet seeks items - The Crawford County Baby to Toddler Closet is looking for donations of nearly new clothes for girls 3T and boys 3T and 4T. The Baby to Toddler Closet is also looking for donations of training toilet seats or chairs, as well as large empty dog food bags. If you have any of these items that you would like to donate, you can drop them off at the United Michelson Church most days or to the Baby to Toddler Closet on its open days (first Thursday of the month from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. or third Thursday of the month from 11 am- 6 pm) or call Rose Mary Nelson at (989) 348-2985 to arrange for them to be picked up.
Church to host Ice Cream Social - The Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 400 Michigan Avenue, will be serving pie and ice cream during its Ice Cream Social event on Saturday, July 29, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit children and youth ministries.
COA seeks items for Annual Rummage Sale - Would you like to help with a good cause? Do you have items you no longer use? Downsizing or redecorating? Beginning August 1, you can donate your unwanted “good stuff” to the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center’s Annual Rummage Sale to be held Friday, August 18, and Saturday, August 19. Drop off your items in clean, working order at the old Fred Bear building on M-72 West on the following drop-off dates; Mondays, August 1 and 8 from 2-4 p.m. and August 14, 15, and 16 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. (Please no clothing, books, old TVs, or computers.) There will be no collection of items at the Senior Center. Church to host Vacation Bible School - Burning Bush Tabernacle will be holding its annual Vacation Bible School on Wednesday, July 26, through Friday, July 28, from 6-8 p.m. Event will include Bible stories, crafts, snacks, prizes, and candy. Teen dance to be held on Thursday - There will be a “Hawaiian theme” teen dance on Thursday, July 27, from 7-9 p.m. at the old Pro-Built/future Northern Market building on the I-75 Business Loop. All local and visiting students in grades 6-12 are welcome. Cost is $4 at the door. Concessions will be available. The event is a fundraiser for Grayling Little League.
