Pop can drive will support scholarship fund - A pop can drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, at the Grayling Family Fare, to support the scholarship fund established by the AuSable River Canoe Marathon Committee. Scholarships are awarded to a Grayling High School graduate, an Oscoda High School graduate, and a graduating senior who is the son, daughter, or grandchild of an AuSable Marathon paddler.
COA to conduct lunch event in Lovells - The community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Lovells Satellite Meal on Friday, July 21, at 12 p.m. at the Lovells Township Hall. The lunch includes beef tips and noodles, asparagus, and apple slices. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. Medicare presentation slated for July 20 - The Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center – located at 308 Lawndale Street in Grayling – will host a presentation that will help demystify the issues surrounding Medicare on Thursday, July 20, at 6 p.m. Jennifer Bricker, Advocacy & Resource Coordinator and volunteer Medicare/Medicaid counselors, will discuss the various parts of Medicare, including what is covered or not covered, Medicare Supplement and Prescription Drug Plans, and how Medicare recipients who have low income can get assistance paying for Prescription Drug Plans and the Medicare Part B premium. Prior to the presentation, enjoy a stuffed peppers dinner at the Senior Center at 5 p.m. Those 60 and older eat for a suggested donation of $3. Those under 60 can eat for a cost of $5. Lake association to meet - The Lake Margrethe Property Owners Association’s semi-annual membership meeting will be held on Saturday, July 15, at 9 a.m. at the Grayling Township Hall. All matters pertaining to the health and welfare of Lake Margrethe and property owners will be discussed.
Breakfast presentation to be held - The Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center will host a free breakfast presentation on Tuesday, July 18, at 9 a.m. Mark Passow, FNP, from Munson Healthcare Grayling Community Health Center, will discuss what sets Nurse Practitioners apart from other health care providers. You will learn more about what is a nurse practitioner, why they are a valued member of the healthcare team, their certifications, and the services they can provide. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, blueberry muffins, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee. The breakfast and presentation will be held at the Senior Center, 308 Lawndale Street. Artisan Village to host free concert - The Artisan Village and Dharma Records USA will present an evening with Terry Cooper on Wednesday, July 19, from 7-9 p.m. The Artisan Village is located at 219 Michigan Avenue. Moving Wall memorial to come through town - The Vietnam War Moving Wall memorial will be coming through Grayling at approximately 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19. Event organizers encourage area residents to bring flags and show patriotism. The Moving Wall, a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial located in Washington, D.C., will be displayed at the Crawford County Sports Complex from Wednesday, July 19, to Monday, July 24.
