Bicycle Safety Rodeo to be held on June 2 - Sheriff Kirk A. Wakefield would like to announce the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office Annual Bicycle Safety Rodeo for children grades kindergarten through fifth will be held on Saturday, June 2. The Rodeo will be held in the parking lot of the AuSable Primary School from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A parent must accompany the participating child. New Medicare cards to arrive in June - In June 2018, Medicare is mailing new cards with new Medicare numbers to every person with Medicare. This is to help protect you from identity fraud. Medicare coverage and benefits stay the same. You don’t need to do anything to get your new card. Once you get your new Medicare card, destroy your old card. You can start using your new Medicare card right away at the pharmacy and with your doctor or other healthcare providers. Beware of people contacting you about your new Medicare card and asking you for your Medicare Number, personal information, or to pay a fee for your new card. Senior Center to host Cowboy Party - Saddle up and head to the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center on Tuesday, June 5, at 5:45 p.m. for a Cowboy Party. Come on out to the Wild Wild West where costumes are not required but appreciated. Western Songs. Western Games. Western Prizes. Come early for a BBQ pork sandwich dinner served from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The cost of dinner is $5 for those under 60 and a suggested $3 donation for those 60 and over. Frederic Satellite Meal to be held - The Community is invited to the Crawford County Commission on Aging’s Frederic Satellite Meal on Friday, June 8, at 12 p.m. at the Frederic Township Hall. The lunch includes baked ham, baked sweet potato, green beans, and applesauce. Lunch is open to the public. The cost of the lunch is a suggested donation of $3 for those 60 and over and a $5 cost for those under 60. Free concert slated for June 7 - The community is invited to attend a free live concert featuring Howard Taylor on Thursday, June 7, at 5:45 p.m. at the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center. Old country, old standards, fun songs, some storytelling and an opportunity for the audience to learn a little bit more about Northern Michigan’s best kept secret. Before the concert, enjoy a beef enchilada dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Those 60 and over dinner is a suggested $3 donation and those under 60 the cost of dinner is $5. Sign up for Smart911 Program - The Crawford County Commission on Aging is offering another opportunity to sign up for the Smart911 Program on Wednesday, June 6, from 1-4 p.m. Smart911 is a free, new service available in the area to help you when you call 9-1-1. Once you’ve signed up, first responders will be aware of important information you have provided that will help them address your emergency.
