Bicycle Safety Rodeo slated for June 3 - Sheriff Kirk A. Wakefield would like to announce the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office Annual Bicycle Safety Rodeo for children grades K-5 will be held on Saturday, June 3, in the parking lot of the AuSable Primary School from noon to 1:30 p.m. A parent must accompany the participating child. Baccalaureate Service to be held at GHS - Grayling High School seniors, their family and friends, and community members are invited to attend the 2017 Baccalaureate Service – a non-denominational religious event planned by and featuring the Class of 2017 graduates – on Wednesday, May 31, at 6 p.m. in the school’s Joseph Stripe Auditorium.
Relay team to conduct bake sale - Families Against Cancer, a local Relay for Life team, is sponsoring a bake sale on Friday, May 26, and Saturday, May 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. outside the Hallmark store in Grayling. Relay for Life is slated for July 8 this year, with the survivors’ lap slated for 11 a.m. Survivors can register for the event at the bake sale and receive a free T-shirt. AARP driving course to be held June 1-2 - The AARP in conjunction with the Crawford County Commission on Aging and Senior Center is offering the AARP Smart Driver Course. This two-day course will be held at the Free Methodist Church, 6352 West M-72, on June 1-2 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Cost of the course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members (all course materials are included in the cost). Participants need to bring their valid Michigan driver’s license and AARP card if they have one. Lunch will not be provided; however, participants can bring their own snacks and drink. The Senior Center will host lunch at noon. Lunch for those 60 and over is a suggested $3 donation and those under 60 is a $5 charge. Call the Commission on Aging at (989) 348-7123 to register.
State rep to conduct local office hours - State Rep. Daire Rendon of Lake City will conduct local office hours at Goodale’s Bakery, located at 500 Norway Street in Grayling, from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday, June 9. Office hours give residents the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the representative and discuss any questions, concerns, or input they may have.
